Michelle Mitchell is the oldest of four children and the only girl of Michael and Marlene Mitchell. After Graduation, Michelle obtained certification in Computer Systems Technology and has worked for companies such as Credit Suisse First Boston, SONY, Goldman Sachs, and Yahoo.Inc.
Former Long Beach, NY Branch NAACP VP 2003, She has memberships in, The Urban League of Long Island, National Council of Negro Women, St. George's Society of New York, National Space Society, New York Caledonian Club, Planetary Society, IVY, and The Wing. In 2020 she was a mentor for the Global Hack, the biggest online hackathon in the world fighting off the crisis to battle the problems we are facing as a global society after the immediate corona, also a Former Board member to the BBALP (Bisila Bokoko African Literacy Project) Michelle has created an online support and empowerment group for women of color called The Phenomenal Women Group that started as a Yahoo Group back in the mid-2000s that has migrated to a movement on its own, having a long residency on Facebook as a page that accumulated over 100k followers has developed into an App/ Online community for Black Women and Women of Color.
In the summer of 2019, Michelle applied and was chosen out of a pool of 1000 persons to be part of NASA Social, Nasa Social formerly called NASA Tweetup is a program to provide opportunities for NASA's social media followers to learn and share information about NASA's missions, people, and programs.
While not working as a volunteer for the many charitable organizations she is a member of she enjoys spending contributing to a few online publications and blogging as well as time with her family. Michelle currently resides in New York
